Georgia’s Orchid

This is how the story of Georgia’s Orchid begins (by Addy., grade 8).

Georiga O’ Keefe said: “Nobody sees a flower really- it is so small-we haven’t time, and to see beauty takes time…” Georiga created me in 1926. I’m a orchid created by Georiga O’ Keef. My artist was born on November 15th 1887, she was the second of seven kids in her family. She quoted “I think I’d rather let the painting work for itself.” Georiga herself wasn’t a great artist at the start, she also had to be taught. She was mainly known for drawing flowers like me but mainly dessert flowers. She loved living down in the south so she visited a lot. Eventually she moved to Mexico where she lived and died in March of 1986.

  1. Flowers are not all that Georgia O’ Keeffe drew. She had a true passion for several different topics. Georgia was able to draw buildings, bones and skulls. It is amazing that her art can have so many different topics but still have the same style as the last. She can do something that is so full of life like me “a flower” and then do something that has been dead for a while like the skulls she paints.
