The Story of Serena

This is how the story of Serena begins (by HN, grade 4).

Hi, my name is Serena. As you can see I was adopted by a man. Some people told me I was in the care of a wizard.

One night I saw him speaking into a magical globe! He said, “why should I keep Serena? She is the way of my magic!”

That’s when I realized he really WAS a wizard! So I packed my makeup and ran out of the forest and into the city. Hey, don’t judge me, every girl needs to look pretty everywhere! But now I’m on my own.

Serena (CHE82) is part of a series of monster rocks created by students at Castle Hill Elementary in Austin, TX. If you have found this rock or would like to continue this story, let us know!

  1. The city was very different from the forest. There were a lot of lights, people, traffic, even the smells were very different. I was tired from running and decided to sit on a bench. A woman walked by and was talking on her cell phone. I heard her say that she didn’t know what to do she has a lot of things to take care of and has no help because her help quit. I saw her sit on another bench and I moved closer so I could hear the rest of her conversation. She seems sad because there was so much work and nobody to help her. When she finished on her on the phone and was just sitting there I told her I heard what she was saying and asked if I could help her. She told me that she owned the candy store and had lots of people buying candy for Christmas but nobody to help her. I told her I could help. She looked so happy. She pointed across the street to a brightly lit up store and said that is my candy store. She asked me if I would like to look at it. We walked across the street and she opened the door with her key. She flipped on the light and I was amazed. There is candy of every color in the rainbow and every size you could think of. She told me she needed some help arranging the candy and helping the customers. I told her I would be glad to help. She told me there was a little room in the back with a little bit and a little bathroom and I was welcome to stay there if I wanted to. This sounded like the beginning of a beautiful dream for me. 2. The city is very big and exciting! There’s lots of people and lots of stuff to do and no wizards choosing a magical globe over me. Not that I really minded, I was getting pretty bored in the forest.
