This is how the story of Maya begins (by Allie1402, grade 6).
Hello, my name is Maya. I am getting old and getting gray fur. My owner is a girl called Eadlyn. She is the best owner you can ever imagine. Well at least I think so. She is much better than my last owner! They hit me, did not give me enough food and water. Plus they called me Aida.
My new owner Eadlyn got me out of there and saved me. By the way I am a dog, a mix of a golden Retriever and a German Shepherd. Eadlyn always says I have cheetah legs. They are striped golden and black. When I run Eadlyn says in an American accent: “Your ears are flapp´n in the wind!”
Actually you can also say I am a black retriever because most of the fur on my body is black.
One time, our neighbor Mrs. Smith was driving on our street and the other neighbor’s cat was on the street licking her paws and didn´t notice that the huge car was driving close to her. I sprinted in front of the car and barked ( what I haven´t done in a while). Mrs. Smith noticed and stopped. But it was too late, her big car drove over my paw. My owner saved me from the street and took me to the Vet. He said I have broken my toe. The cat came to our house and meowed “thank you” like 15 times. I was thankful that nothing happened to her!! The cat and I are best friends ever since.
… to be continued.
