This is how the story of Lalik begins (6th grade).
Hi, my name is Lalik. I am a real chatter stone. My family and all my friends are pebbles. We all live happily together in Rocky Town.
My friend Emely is the funniest stone I know. We love to travel and to see how people all over the world live. I’ve known Emely since 4th grade. Together we have been in Hong Kong, Spain, New York and lots more but let me tell you of the heroic and wonderful travel we had together…
One day in autumn Emely came over to my cozy house for a cup of hot chocolate. It was getting really cold outside. Rock people were already covered in thick fluffy coats, hats on them, gloves and scarves. When Emely arrived we sat down on the balcony and complained about the cold weather. That’s what brought me to the idea: “Why don’t we fly to…Mauritius!”
My best friend was right away with me. Obsessively we looked for flights. Luckily we got the last two seats on the flight for the following day. Therefore we had to hurry up with packing. Before Emely went home we decided that we would meet at the airport at 1:00 p.m. the next day.
When Emely left I got out my suitcase. I packed T-shirts, swimming things and other stuff. When I went to bed that night I was really excited. In the morning when I woke up, I did my daily routine. After a while I looked on the clock it was 12:45. I called a taxi to the airport. When I reached the airport Emely was already standing there patiently.
The airport was a big building. We headed through the glass door in the crowded check-in hall. Straight away we found our check-in counter. My friend and I passed quickly the check-in counter and the security officers. When we reached our gate it was already time for boarding.
In front of us stood an old rock-lady from Barcelona, with fuzzy white hair and a neon pink overall. When we all boarded the plane the Spanish rock-lady went the opposite direction. At first I did not really think about and went to my seat. But then when a voice through the loud-speaker asked if there would be a passenger speaking Spanish, I raised my hand. The nice looking stewardess asked me if I could come in front, so I did.
The rock-lady in the neon pink overall has seated herself on the pilot’s seat. Since this was her very first flight she thought she could sit wherever she wants. And she absolutely wanted to sit right in front to enjoy the fascinating view during the flight. She was convinced that the cockpit was the first row.
The old rock-lady was really irritated when she saw how the stewardess got upset. Since she just spoke Spanish she could not understand anything. I was happy to help with my Spanish and explained to her that she took the seat of the pilot. And if she would not move to her seat in the back we could never take off. I could convince the lady with this point.
I guided her to her seat in the back. The stewardess thanked me a lot and all the passengers smiled at me. I was their hero as I have saved the flight!
When we arrived in Mauritius it was already 6:00 a.m. in the morning. We took a taxi to a nice beach hotel and stayed there for a whole week, before we flew home again. We had a really good time.
… to be continued.
