Shannon O'Rourke Atherly

(Villisca) -- The third time was a charm.

On Thursday night in Villisca - in our third attempt - the late Rick O'Rourke was officially inducted into the KMA Sports Hall of Fame between games of the Stanton/Southwest Valley doubleheader.

O'Rourke, the first KMA Sports Hall of Famer to be inducted posthumously, was a three-time state cross country champion from 1967 to 1969. He is one of just nine male athletes in Iowa to win three cross country titles.

O'Rourke - also a member of the KMA Sports Hall of Fame state track champion from 1967 - was represented by his younger sister, Shannon.
