Kyle & Jill Marcum KMA Sports Hall of Fame

(KMAland) -- A brother-sister duo full of hardware, including a co-ed title together, make up today's KMA Sports Hall of Fame inductees.

Clarinda's Kyle Marcum and Jill Marcum were just two years apart, but they made arguably their biggest impact together in winning the 2001 state co-ed championship.

"Jill is about the steadiest player I've ever played with," Kyle said on KMA's Upon Further Review Wednesday. "She has the best personality. You wouldn't know whether she was having the best round or the worst round of her life."

Jill says her steadiness was complemented by Kyle's knowledge of the game.

"I guess from my perspective," she said, "I generally just kind of trusted him to be the brains of the operation. I would just try to do what he told me to do."

That played out in a different fashion in later years, as Kyle was Jill's caddy for many of her tournaments in college and beyond.

While Kyle also finished second with Cindy Whitmore in the 1999 co-ed tournament and Jill with B.J. Honnold in 2004, the two also made their marks individually.

Jill was a four-time Hawkeye Ten Conference champion and won the 2004 state championship. She also finished second as a sophomore and third as a junior before going on to golf at the University of Iowa.

Kyle's highest finish came in his junior season in 2001 when he finished second to Dave Blum of Kuemper Catholic.

"That was about the worst weather you could possibly imagine," Kyle remembered. "I played in a really great era for boy's golf. There was a lot of great players from Harlan, Carroll, Shenandoah. Just a lot of very good, competitive guys."

The Marcums will be inducted into the KMA Sports Hall of Fame at a later date to be determined. To hear the full interview with the two Hall of Famers click here.

A KMA Sports Hall of Fame announcement will be made on Upon Further Review at 11:50 AM each weekday until August 28th.
