(Red Oak) -- One of the most successful coaches in KMAland history was inducted into the KMA Sports Hall of Fame Friday night.

Long-time Red Oak Coach Dan Martinez was honored between games of the Red Oak/Clarinda basketball doubleheader. Martinez had a 39-year career at Red Oak, coaching football, cross country, girls and boys basketball, girls and boys tennis and baseball.

He amassed over 1,000 combined victories in basketball and dual tennis matches during his career and led multiple girls and boys basketball and girls and boys tennis teams to state tournaments. Martinez also coached 39 tennis teams to conference championships. So, one for every year that he coached.
