This post was originally published in 2012 but we love the Social Justice Project and wanted to revisit some of these great stories.

This is how the story of Rosa Parks begins (by Isela, elementary).

Since I was small I wanted to make fair rules for all people. I attended the Alabama State Teachers College for nurses, but I did not finish because I had to take care of the grandparents. I married Raymond Parks, a barber, when I was 19.

Later I became a civil rights activist. I fought for equal rights for black people I changed bus laws for black people. I became an icon for civil rights.

I am the great Rosa Parks.

To be continued…

Rosa Parks (WES23) is part of a series of Social Justice Leader rocks created by students of Whittier ece-8 in Colorado. We invite you to visit all WES rocks and submit your comments and feedback.
